Man United news: Expert issues ‘incredible’ Harry Kane verdict as summer plan reported
Noel Whelan has claimed Tottenham will find it “incredibly difficult” to prevent Harry Kane from moving to Man United if they can’t beat Erik ten Hag’s side to a top-four finish.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, credited Ten Hag with making the Old Trafford club a much more “attractive” proposition for the 29-year-old.
According to ESPN (9 January), Kane is one of Man United’s “priority targets” as they look to sign a marquee centre-forward in the summer window.
The Tottenham star is out of contract in June 2024 and Football Insider revealed last week (7 January) that he is holding back on contract talks in order to see how the club’s plans develop under Antonio Conte.
Kane can become Tottenham’s joint-top scorer if he nets against Arsenal on Sunday (15 January), and can reach 200 Premier League strikes with a brace.
Man United are fourth in the top-flight – three points ahead of Spurs with a game in hand.
When asked if United could be an attractive move for Kane if they secure a top-four finish, Whelan told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “Absolutely.
“The culture has completely changed at Man United since Ten Hag has come in.
“He’s made some really tough decisions on some massive players and personalities, and he’s stamped his experience and personality all over it.
“This is a top-level football club, and for a long time people have been getting away with murder – and that’s completely changed.

“Ten Hag has made the club a lot more attractive.
“If Tottenham can’t manage to get into the top four, it’s going to be incredibly difficult to keep Harry Kane at the club – especially with his contract situation.”
