Man United news: Mills swipes at media spin as squad turn on Harry Maguire
Danny Mills has hit back at “media speculation” over Harry Maguire’s status at Man United.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Man City and England full-back insisted Maguire’s teammates should look at their own performances if they are questioning the captain’s place in the team.
The Times reported yesterday (3 March) the squad do not feel the defender’s displays have not reached the standards of Man United.

He was dropped to the bench as United were held to a 0-0 draw with Watford last weekend (26 February).
“He certainly hasn’t been great but the whole team haven’t been great,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“Pick a player out of the Man United squad who deserves their place week in week out? David De Gea, yes, but you’re going to struggle for an outfield player.
“They are all in the same situation and I certainly don’t think players will be questioning why he’s playing. They need to look at themselves first and foremost and their own performances.
“I think that’s probably just media speculation ramping things up a little bit and one or two quotes being twisted.
“His form hasn’t been up to standard, it’s not where he wants it to be. If he wants to stay in the team come next season with who knows which manager comes in, he’s going to have to up his game.”

Despite his faltering form this season Maguire has still started 21 of their 27 Premier League games this term.
The 28-year-old is under contract at Old Trafford until the summer of 2025.
