Man United news: Pundit salutes ‘great’ deal after McGah agrees terms
Paul Robinson has applauded Man United for the appointment of a head of fan engagement.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Tottenham and England number one stressed the important of club’s having their “ear to the ground” and listening to fans.
On Tuesday (15 February), the Red Devils confirmed Rick McGagh would become the club’s first head of fan engagement.
A lifelong United fan, McGagh is currently a member of both the Fans’ Forum and Fans’ Advisory Board.
Man United hope the appointment will “strengthen relations” between fans and the clubs by ensuring their interests are represented.
When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his reaction to the new, Robinson said:
“It’s great to see if there is going to be genuine engagement and dialogue with fans over the direction of the club. Clubs listening to fans is a good thing.
“We saw during Covid that football is nothing without the fans. We also saw the power of fans during the Super League debacle.
“It’s vital to have your ear to the ground and to listen to fans. I just hope this appointment isn’t a facade. I hope it has genuinely positive influence on the club.”

Speaking on the appointment, United’s chief operating officer Collette Roche said: “We are already making strides towards improved engagement through the launch of the FAB, the strengthening of the Fans’ Forum, and progress towards creating a Fans’ Share Scheme.
“This appointment marks another step forward in this positive direction.”
