Man United news: Pundit suggests real reason Cristiano Ronaldo won’t stay in the Premier League

Alan Hutton has insisted Cristiano Ronaldo won’t stay in the Premier League if he leaves Man United.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa right-back said the style of football in the English top flight doesn’t suit the 37-year-old.

According to journalist Duncan Castles, reported in the Times (7 October), the striker is planning to leave Old Trafford when he returns from the Qatar World Cup.

The club are said to have held negotiations with Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid in the summer but the Glazers rejected a sale.

Ronaldo is also said to be holding out for a salary on par with his United one.

The forward has entered the final 12 months of his Old Trafford contract

But Hutton insisted Ronaldo will not stay in England.

I don’t think he’ll stay in the Premier League,” he told Football Insider.

I think when you look at the top teams at this moment in time, they all play with that high, aggressive, energetic pace around them. You have to run, you have to close defenders down, I just don’t think he’s there at this moment in time.

Of course he will still probably score 20 goals which is brilliant. He needs to fit in to the right team for that. So I would be surprised if any of the top English teams would take him. But, that being said, you never know.
