Man United news: Pundit ‘wowed’ by potential Ruben Neves deal after talks update
Noel Whelan has claimed Ruben Neves is “made” for a move to an “elite club” with Man United, Arsenal, and Barcelona all linked.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 24-year-old Wolves star would be “an added bit of quality for any side”.
According to the Daily Mail (3 March), talks have already taken place between intermediaries as Barcelona target Neves – who is reportedly “likely to leave” Molineux this summer.
The report also claims Man United and Arsenal are interested in a move for the midfielder.
Neves, who is contracted until 2024, has made 21 goal contributions in 134 Premier League games since making his top-flight debut in 2018.
When asked if the Portugal star is ready to make the move to an elite side, Whelan told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury: “Oh God yeah, he’s ready.
“You see him in that midfield, taking charge – and the quality and technique that he’s got, wow.
“Whether it’s Barcelona, Man United, or Arsenal – he’s made for any of them, and he’d be a great addition.
“It’s testament to his quality that those three top sides are looking at him.
“He’s got those leadership skills as well, not just technical ability. He’s got character, grit – and I don’t think he’d be overawed if he were to play for those kinds of elite clubs.
“That’s probably why he’s being looked at – they know he can handle that massive step up and the expectation. He’d fit in and be a real added bit of quality for any side.”

Neves has earned 24 caps for his native Portugal.
Wolves paid a reported £15.8million for the midfielder’s services in 2017.
