Man United news: Thomas Tuchel and Antonio Conte in head-to-head battle after source reveals latest manager twist – pundit

Thomas Tuchel and Antonio Conte are the frontrunners to be the next Man United manager, according to Danny Mills.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Man City and England full-back claimed the managerial merry-go-round has started and Mauricio Pochettino could leave Paris Saint-Germain to return to Tottenham which would allow Conte, 52, to take over at Old Trafford.

A Man United source told Football Insider on Friday (11 March) the club are set to “go all out” to lure Tuchel from Chelsea at the end of the season.

The club’s hierarchy see the 48-year-old as “by far the best candidate” and want to take advantage of the crisis at Chelsea.

“Already suddenly the managerial merry-go-round has started to turn at a frantic pace and nobody has got on it yet,” Mills told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“There’s talk of Pochettino going back to Spurs which is an odd one. If that’s right does Conte go to Man United?

“But then with the Chelsea situation, Tuchel might be available because who knows what is going to happen at Chelsea over the coming months and years.

“All of a sudden there are a lot of variables going around.

“What we do know is Pochettino is unlikely to be at PSG, Ranngick is unlikely to be Manchester United manager. That’s all we know at the moment.

“It could be like dominoes, once one goes lots fall into place. It depends who makes that first move.

“The Chelsea situation is very fluid and very odd and unprecedented. Tuchel will have to wait and see what happens.”
