Man United next manager: ‘Huge’ Thomas Tuchel twist after agreement reached
Thomas Tuchel penning a new contract to extend his time as the England manager will be a “huge” boost ahead of the upcoming World Cup.
His decision has provided clarity and stability, and ended any speculation about his long-term position, blocking out the noise ahead of the summer.
This comes amid speculation that Tuchel was on Man United‘s shortlist to become their next manager when his previous contract expired after the World Cup.
Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that England‘s players will be pleased to see the manager commit his long-term future.
Tuchel’s extended deal will run until the end of the European Championships in 2028, meaning he will now oversee two tournaments as the Three Lions’ boss.

Thomas Tuchel extends England contract until
Tuchel’s contract situation meant talk had already begun about his successor as Brown told Football Insider that Eddie Howe could be tempted away from Newcastle.
This had led to doubts about his commitment to the role with the national team, and suggestions about outside noise during the World Cup, but that has now been squashed.
“Tuchel signing a new contract is huge for England,” Brown told Football Insider.
“It puts an end to any speculation about his future which I have no doubt would have crept in during the World Cup, that’s how these things are.
“The narrative would have been about what he’s going to do after the tournament, whether England had his full focus, things along those lines.
“He was linked with the Man United job so I’m sure that’s something that would have been brought up, but that’s not going to be happening now.
“I have no doubt the players will benefit from it as well.
“Signing a new contract puts all of that to bed, it gets rid of the noise and now he will be able to focus on winning the World Cup with England.
“It also means his decisions are more long-term, he can bed players in and plan for the future rather than everything being immediate, which is a positive.”
Man United dealt new manager blow by Tuchel news
Brown told Football Insider on 13 January that Tuchel is a contender for the Man United job and is high on their list of targets should he leave England after the World Cup.
While the possibility of the FA reaching an agreement to extend his stay was considered a possibility, and ultimately came to be, he was highly regarded at Old Trafford.
However, Tuchel is not the only big-name boss on Man United’s radar as they prepare to appoint a permanent successor to Ruben Amorim at the end of the season.

Football Insider revealed on 11 January that Man United are lining up a “top-class” manager to become their next permanent boss following an interim spell.
Michael Carrick has also placed himself in a strong position to land the permanent role after winning four and drawing one of his five games in interim charge so far.
