Kieran Maguire: ‘£111m’ Man United reveal proves Glazers have ‘finally woken up’
The Glazers have “finally woken up” and realised that is time to revitalise flatlining matchday income at Man United.
That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the facilities at Old Trafford.
United announced last Thursday (14 April) that they have assembled a team of master planners to begin work on the redevelopment of the stadium.

The Daily Mail reported last Sunday (17 April) that the revamp will see capacity soar to 88,000 at a cost of £200million.
The Red Devils also recently launched their Executive Club season ticket scheme, with prices starting at the equivalent of £160 per match.
Maguire revealed that United’s matchday income has flatlined at around £111m and that the Glazers have realised it is time to act.
“It helps to take a look at United’s matchday income,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.
“The one thing that is very noticeable is that their matchday income has effectively flatlined since 2010.
“It was £111m in 2011 and £111m in 2019, which was the last year when Covid wasn’t an issue.
“You have got to give the club some credit for not raising season ticket prices, but that is mainly because the facilities have not been improved.
“They now realise that commercial income is flatlining as well, so they have finally woken up and decided they need to sweat the assets even more.
“There will be a market for these tickets but they will have to up their game if they are to sell out as quickly as they’d like.“
The 1958 United fan group have cited underinvestment in infrastructure as one of the reasons for their recent campaign against the Glazers.
The Red Devils have today (21 April) announced that Ajax boss Erik ten Hag, 52, will be their new manager from the end of this season.
