Finance guru shreds Glazers after ‘astonishing’ Man United snub – ‘how has this happened?’
It is “astonishing” that Man United have the country’s second-biggest stadium but may not be on the list of venues for Euro 2028.
That is the view of finance expert Doctor Dan Plumley, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Old Trafford’s diminishing reputation.
Per the Daily Mail last Friday (18 March) the 76,000-seater stadium is not on the list of guaranteed venues for the UK and Ireland-hosted Euros.

Whether or not Old Trafford hosts matches at the tournament in six years’ time will depend heavily on the extent of upgrades to the stadium.
The Daily Mail also reported last Monday (14 March) that the Glazers have hired a master planner and are plotting major renovations.
But Plumley insists that the owners should never have let the stadium fall so far behind the industry standard in the first place.
“It’s still iconic and big, but it is becoming dated,” the Sheffield Hallam University expert told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.
“We have seen numerous reports of it falling behind over the years. That’s the attitude that has been apparent from the Glazers.
“You have to ask, how has this happened? Attendance is one thing, but there are better stadiums that have been built more recently.
“You need to have the facilities to host everything that takes place around the edges at these occasions.
“It’s pretty astonishing that the country’s second-biggest stadium might not be on the list. But newer stadiums are in pole position to secure major events.”

The UK and Ireland are set to win the bid to host Euro 2028 after Russia and Turkey dropped out of the process.
Old Trafford has been the Red Devils’ home since 1910.
