Man United players ‘surprised’ by what Ruben Amorim has done to Tyrell Malacia

Ruben Amorim’s treatment of Tyrell Malacia has caught many players at Man United by surprise as he continues to be ousted from his first-team plans.

Ruben Amorim took a hardline stance on a number of Man United players’ futures in the summer, with multiple stars training away from his first-team as they sought exits during the transfer window.

Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia all made up the ‘bomb squad’ group of players who were not in the Portuguese boss’ plans, while Marcus Rashford was also included but secured a loan move away a lot earlier than the rest.

Garnacho joined Chelsea towards the end of the deadline, while Antony re-joined Real Betis and Sancho moved to Aston Villa on loan, yet Malacia was left without an exit route even after the UK window had closed.

Malacia saw respective moves to Elche and Eyupspor fall through earlier in September, and he is stuck at Old Trafford until at least the January window, with a new development now emerging around his current situation at the club.

Man United youth players shocked Tyrell Malacia is training with them

Malacia was named in Man United’s Premier League squad recently, yet he still does not look any closer to a first-team return while Amorim is in charge.

According to a new report from the Daily Mail (23 September), Malacia has been training with the Red Devils’ Under-21s for the past two weeks, those around that group say that his intensity is “off the charts” and his attitude is “an example for everybody else.”

The way the Netherlands international has handled himself in training has left youth team players “surprised” that he was consigned to a place in Amorim’s ‘bomb squad’ over the summer, as he was always likely to provide the least amount of disruption or distraction to the first-team.

Malacia is not the only player to suffer under Ruben Amorim

Amorim’s quest to earn respect as United boss has seen him treat a number of his players in an uncompromising manner, with Malacia not the only one who may be feeling hard done by.

Kobbie Mainoo has also struggled to make his mark under the Portuguese head-coach in recent months, with Amorim previously insisting that he needs to fight for his place in the starting eleven with the mercurial Bruno Fernandes, which is obviously a tough task.

Mainoo could have left Man United in the summer amid interest from Real and Atletico Madrid, but he stuck around at Old Trafford only to be handed three substitute appearances in their first five league games up to now.

It seems that Malacia’s situation with others inside the club is not a new one too, with Football Insider recently revealing that Amorim is at loggerheads with the Man United hierarchy over Mainoo’s future, while other first-team players are also known to be confused at the way he has been treated.
