Manchester United have had a bid accepted for Sporting Lisbon attacking midfielder Bruno Fernandes, Football Insider has learned.

The prolific goalscorer, 24, is set to head to England to finalise a move next week as the Portugese club prepare to let him go for less than his release clause.

A United source has told Football Insider that Lisbon have accepted a United offer worth over £60million for Fernandes following extensive summer-long talks over the structure of a deal.

Those terms have now been settled and United are preparing to make Fernandes the latest in a series of expensive summer recruits.

Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka were signed earlier in the window for a collective total of £68million and United are also in advanced talks to sign Harry Maguire from Leicester City in a deal costing over £80million.

The attacking midfielder has been chase by United on the back of a remarkable 2018-19 campaign in which scored 32 goals and supplied 18 assists for his side in 53 matches.

The 12-times Portugal international was outstanding in all competitions, with 20 of his goals coming in the domestic league, putting the goal machine second only to Benfica star Haris Seferovic, and he also topped the league assists charts with 13.

Fernandes also demonstrated his pedigree in the Europa League, which was enough to convince United's recruitment team to make a big push to land him this summer.
