Man United ready Ivan Toney bid, price drops by £20m – sources

Man United are plotting a late-window bid for Brentford striker Ivan Toney, sources have told Football Insider.

The 20-time champions are exploring the market for a proven centre-forward, and Toney is on their shortlist.

Rasmus Hojlund suffered an injury during pre-season that will rule him out of action until mid-September.

The situation has left United without an orthodox senior striker, and Erik ten Hag is pushing for the club to secure another frontline option who is proven at the highest level.

Brentford are still anticipating bids for Toney, with the club having dropped their asking price from £70million to around £50million.

The 28-year-old striker has entered the final year of his contract at Brentford, which is why they’re willing to sell him for a cut price.

Man United will sign a proven Premier League striker in Ivan Toney

United want to bring in someone who is proven, and Toney has proven his ability to play and score in the top flight throughout his time with the Bees.

Toney has scored 65 goals and provided 21 assists in 85 Premier League appearances, which is why several teams have been monitoring him this summer.

Despite the competition United will have in trying to sign Toney, Football Insider revealed the England international has told friends he wants to join the Premier League giants.
