Man United ready to take ‘big loss’ on transfer amid £80m update – pundit

Man United will have to take a “big loss” on their outgoing stars this summer.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the players who must leave Old Trafford this summer.

According to the Daily Star (21 May), Man United and Erik ten Hag are aiming to wipe £80million off their annual wage bill this summer – around £1.5million a week.

The report claims Anthony Martial, Phil Jones, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Dean Henderson, and Eric Bailly will all be sold during the window.

Kenny insists Man United will have to take a “big loss” on some players and instead the outgoing stars can’t complain.

“These are players who have not been good enough for Man United, it’s as simple as that,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Apart from Henderson, he is wanting a move to play regular football and you can understand that.

“The rest of them, it’s no surprise to me. Man United need this massive rebuild and I think getting rid of these players is just the start.

“You can think of another four or five players who could go but that’s probably dependent on whether replacements are signed.

“I don’t think any of those players there can complain if they are moved on.

“The next issue is getting rid of them, they will have to take a big loss. I just hope they are prepared for that.”

Man United fans are growing tired

Big earners Paul Pogba, Edinson Cavani, Juan Mata, Nemanja Matic, and Jesse Lingard are out of contract next month and will also be allowed to depart.

The Red Devils finished sixth in the 2021-22 Premier League season.
