Man United set sights on signing ‘lightning’ striker in January amid Ruben Amorim ‘concerns’
Ruben Amorim is already looking to improve his Man United squad ahead of the January transfer window after a poor start to the season.
Pressure on Amorim’s position has been ramping up after their recent results, but he is already looking ahead to improve when the window opens.
While there are concerns in a number of positions across the pitch, United are considering bolstering their centre-forward options behind Benjamin Sesko.
Sesko had endured a difficult start to life at Old Trafford since his £74million move from RB Leipzig in the summer, although he remains the number one striker.
However, with Joshua Zirkzee the only out-and-out backup striker, Amorim has set his sights on a new option to provide an alternative option up front.

Man United set sights on cut-price Dusan Vlahovic deal
Football Insider revealed on 1 October that Man United could sign Dusan Vlahovic in January for a cut-price fee given his contract situation at Juventus.
The striker is out of contract in Turin at the end of the season and could be available for free, putting a number of clubs including United on red alert.
That is according to former Man United chief scout Mick Brown, who worked at Old Trafford for over a decade during their most successful period, as he exclusively told Football Insider that Vlahovic has been a long-term target for the Red Devils.
“Vlahovic has been a contender for a while at United,” he told Football Insider.
“He’s a big, physical, strong striker which they’ve been keen to add to the squad, it’s a similar profile to Sesko really so it would be a like-for-like sort of thing.
“At the moment, if they’re taking Sesko off, Zirkzee is the only real backup and then you have to change the way of playing to suit his game.
“Being able to rotate between Sesko and Vlahovic might be something which suits them more.

“He’s definitely been on their radar for a while, so if he becomes available then they could make a move, especially if he’s available on a free.
“It’s not going to be a priority for Man United, they signed Sesko, [Bryan] Mbeumo and [Matheus] Cunha in the summer so they’re happy with those options.
“I expect they’re more likely to look in goal, in midfield and in defence before signing another striker because that’s where the concerns are for Amorim.”
Vlahovic has long been linked with a move to the Premier League, and remains highly rated after Micah Richards labelled him “lightning” and “everything you could need” in 2021. [Independent]
Ruben Amorim’s transfer priority revealed amid ‘concerns’
While a new striker remains on Amorim’s radar ahead of the January transfer window, a number of other positions will be prioritised ahead of Vlahovic.
Brown told Football Insider on 30 September that Amorim is demanding another goalkeeper, despite having signed Senne Lammens during the summer window.
Meanwhile, concerns have been raised about the Red Devils’ options in midfield after missing out on key targets before the window closed on 1 September.

Man United have been targeting a number of midfielders, with the likes of Morten Hjulmand and Adam Wharton on their radar, as they aim to address a key area of the squad.
Meanwhile, Man United have taken an interest in Elliot Anderson as they aim to improve their midfield options, and are believed to be keeping an eye on his performances.
