Man United star Anthony Martial labelled ‘terrible’ by pundit amid pre-season reveal

Frank McAvennie has claimed Anthony Martial is not the answer to the problems at Man United.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker said Martial, 26, has a “terrible temperament” and a tendency to “switch off” during games.

Man United revealed (19 July) that Martial’s goal against Crystal Palace in their pre-season friendly is the first time a player has scored in three consecutive pre-season matches since the 2007-08 season.

Cristiano Ronaldo set the record after scoring in four consecutive games for the Red Devils’ during their 2007/8 pre-season tour.

Martial currently has two years remaining on his contract at Old Trafford after spending the second half of last season on loan at Sevilla.

When asked if he thought the French international could be the solution to United’s striker problems next season, McAvennie told Football Insider: “No I’m not convinced.

Him and [Marcus] Rashford can switch off the same as they did last season. Somebody says the wrong thing to them and they can switch off, I don’t like players like that.

Rashford could make it as a centre-forward if he gets his head together but Martial, no. I think his temperament is terrible. I just don’t like seeing players strolling about.

Man United fans are growing tired

The Man United supporters are not taking to him either, they’re not having it because he’s been there for a while.

Maybe he went out on loan and realised what he was losing at Man United.
