Bruno Fernandes responds to Joshua Zirkzee message after development
Man United captain Bruno Fernandes was full of praise for teammate Joshua Zirkzee after his recent award.
Zirkzee, 23, was named in the Serie A Team of the Year for his impressive displays with Bologna in their 2023-24 campaign that saw them qualify for the Champions League for the first time in their history.
The young striker scored 11 goals and provided five assists in 34 league appearances, 32 of which were starts, yielding a total of 2774 minutes of action and earning a move to Man United.
He has since struggled to recapture the form that made United spend £36.5million on his signature, going 17 games without a goal after scoring the winner on his debut in their 1-0 Premier League win over Fulham on the opening day.
The Dutchman broke his duck in the 4-0 win over Everton on Sunday, bagging a brace to secure Ruben Amorim a convincing victory in his first league game at Old Trafford.
Zirkzee has scored three goals and provided one assist in his 21 appearances across all competitions, ten of which have been from the starting whistle, totaling 811 minutes of action.

Fernandes, 30, is a new man since the dismissal of Erik ten Hag, scoring five goals and providing four assists in the seven games across all competitions under Ruud van Nistelrooy and Ruben Amorim.
The Man United captain made just five goal contributions in their 13 games across all competitions under Ten Hag before he was eventually sacked.
The Portugal international has once again been integral to his club’s plans this season, playing 20 games, 19 of which have been starts, yielding 1645 minutes of action across all competitions.
Delighted to see his teammate win an individual award, Fernandes took to Instagram to leave a comment on Zirkzee’s post, simply saying: “What a player.”

Amorim faces his first real test as Man United manager on Wednesday (December 4) as they travel to London to face Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.
United have a tough run of fixtures throughout the hectic festive period, including a League Cup tie with Tottenham and a Premier League game with rivals Man City.
