‘Man United star Marcus Rashford given formal notice’
Man United forward Marcus Rashford faces more bad news as his investment company has been issued a striking-off notice, according to Kieran Maguire.
The 27-year-old returned to the Manchester United squad for the first time in four matches following Ruben Amorim’s side’s 2-0 loss to Newcastle United on Monday (30 December).
Last month, Rashford admitted in an interview that he was seeking a “new challenge” [via Henry Winter on X]. This statement came after his controversial omission from the Manchester derby, which United won 2-1 in dramatic fashion.
While Rashford is dealing with on-pitch challenges, he’s also facing possible difficulties off the pitch.
According to Maguire, a finance expert specialising in football accounting from the University of Liverpool, his investment company has received a striking-off notice from Companies House. Maguire suggested on X that this could be due to the “late submission of documents”.
A striking-off notice is a formal notice indicating the intention to strike a potentially-inactive company of the register.
Man United need to find a solution for Marcus Rashford in January
Football Insider opinion
The academy graduate has seen his stock fall this season, managing just seven goals in 24 appearances across all competitions.
Meanwhile, other wingers like Amad Diallo have stepped up, with the youngster rising to the occasion and potentially set to be rewarded for his contributions during a period when others are underperforming.
With the club seemingly considering putting Rashford up for sale, they’re in dire need of funds to support Amorim’s squad rebuilding efforts.

United have lost their last four matches across all competitions, including an exit from the Carabao Cup.
To make matters worse, this poor run of form has left them languishing in 14th place. Instead of looking up the table, fans are now forced to worry about the teams below, as they are closer to the relegation zone than to a Champions League spot.
Despite Rashford falling out of favour, there has been little substantial interest in a potential transfer, which could complicate Amorim’s plans for reinforcements in the January window.
The club needs a solution urgently, as they continue to feel the squeeze from profit and sustainability rules.
Adding to Rashford’s woes, his potential off-pitch struggles are also coming to light, which won’t be of help to him or the club, unless the required documents are now filed in response.
In other news, Man United fans haven’t been impressed with Amorim’s treatment of this player.
