Medical expert: Luke Shaw’s season is over after Man United ‘bone surgery’ update
It would be a major surprise if Luke Shaw featured again for Man United this season following his recent surgery.
That is the view of injury expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in medicine and data analysis.
Shaw, 26, was ruled out for 11 months after a double leg fracture back in 2015.

The left-back recently complained of irritation around the operation site, where he had a pair of bolts inserted to aid his recovery.
The England man has now had surgery to remove the metalwork.
As quoted by The Athletic last Friday (15 April), Ralf Rangnick revealed that the England man could miss up to “five weeks” while he recovers.
And Dinnery suggests that we may have seen the last of Shaw in 2021-22.
“Ultimately, once the fracture site has healed, there is no need for the metalwork,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams,
“It isn’t serving any kind of purpose, but most people don’t have any pain and so the bolts are left in.
“That is because there can be complications with the surgery on the bone to remove the metalwork.
“With Shaw, once the fixations have been removed, there will be a slight weakening of the bone.
“Initially, there will be a small step back before you can move forward again. It is about letting nature take its course.
“We might see Shaw back on the training pitches with non-contact work but I’d be very surprised if he returns this season.”

Shaw has chipped five assists in 27 outings this term.
Diogo Dalot played at left wing-back during his absence for the 4-0 defeat at Liverpool on Tuesday (19 April).
