Man United starlet Laird undergoes Bournemouth medical today after deal agreed – Sources

Man United defender Ethan Laird is currently undergoing a medical at Bournemouth, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

The Championship leaders have agreed a deal to sign the right-back, 20, and he has now travelled to the south coast for talks and medical tests.

A United source has told Football Insider that Laird will spend the rest of the season on loan at Bournemouth once formalities are completed.

An announcement is then expected to confirm the deal that is regarded as a major coup for Scott Parker’s side.

Attacking full-back Laird spent the first half of this season on loan at Swansea City and made a big impression for a struggling side.

United have opted to terminate that loan and send the rising star to a team who are at the top of the table and are dominating matches.

They believe that will best help the development of the youngster, who is regarded as a United first teamer of the future.

At Swansea, Laird made 18 starts among 21 appearances in all competitions and supplied four assists for the second-tier strugglers.

Football Insider revealed on Monday (3 January) that the youngster was booked in for a medical at Bournemouth after a deal was agreed in principle.
