Man United tipped to make unexpected move for ex-Premier League star, it’s a ‘great option’
Ruben Amorim may already be looking ahead to the January transfer window, and the Man United manager has been given a recommendation on who to buy.
Man United’s 2-0 win over Sunderland leaves the Red Devils 10th in the Premier League table, with problems still arising at both ends of the pitch.
Amorim had to let go of stars on big wages in the summer window to be able to afford the likes of Benjamin Sesko and Bryan Mbeumo.
Players have been consulted on Amorim’s future with the boss under pressure despite being backed by owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Man United should make Ivan Toney move
Despite attacking signings over the summer to address Man United‘s lack of goals, former defender at the club Danny Simpson believes Sesko needs support.
Simpson is backing Man United to move for Ivan Toney, who currently plays in Saudi Arabia after leaving Brentford in 2024, as per the Metro [14 October].
“When you look at Sesko, I think having an experienced striker with him would be good for him,” Simpson said.
“Then sometimes you can bring him out of the firing line. I do believe they should have two strikers, it just depends whether one’s a bit more senior, just to give him that mentoring role. That’s something I would definitely look at.
“He’s [Ivan Toney] obviously got the temperament and he knows the league,
“I actually think as well, because he’s been out in Saudi Arabia, he would actually now come back to maybe play a different role where you are a rotation option.
“You’re going to get a lot of games, but you might start, you might come off the bench. So I think that’s something, if I were him, you can’t turn that down.
“Coming to the club like Man United and playing a different kind of role, because you’ve been in Saudi Arabia – that might give him a chance to get with England in the summer, because we’re still short of various strikers.
“So yeah, something might brew there. I do know Ivan – I’ve not spoken to him about it, but I just think that’s a great option.“
Football Insider though exclusively revealed that West Ham are lining up a loan move for Toney in the January window.
Toney could eye up World Cup spot
Toney proved during his spell at Brentford that the striker is a proven Premier League goal scorer.
The 29-year-old could add extra firepower to Man United’s attack, which despite new additions is still failing to fire on all cylinders.

With a spot in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad up for grabs, Toney may be tempted by the prospect of returning to the Premier League to boost his chances.
Toney was not included in the Three Lions squad during the October international break, and their are not many windows of opportunity left to convince Tuchel that he should be selected.
