Man United tipped to seal ‘huge’ Cavani’s sale in January after agent claim – pundit

Edinson Cavani is not getting enough game time to justify his “huge wage” at Man United, according to Noel Whelan.

The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 34-year-old could be “cut loose” by the Red Devils in January.

According to the Daily Mail (20 December), Cavani is a target for Barcelona in January as they search for a Sergio Aguero replacement.

Agent and talent spotter Andre Cury, speaking to Torcedores (22 December), claimed the striker is “unhappy” at Old Trafford and suggested a move to Brazil could be on the cards.

Whelan suggested Cavani’s potential exit could open up more opportunities for the likes of Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford.

“He’s not getting enough time on the pitch to justify him being at the club,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.

“His game time has been so sporadic, and he hasn’t quite done as well as maybe he should have done in that time on the pitch.

“He’s probably on a huge wage. If you’re looking to freshen things up at Man United – you look at his age and his competition in the squad, Rashford and Greenwood, then you probably look to cut him loose.

“It would be a beneficial move for both parties.”
