Man United tipped to sign ‘£50m’ striker after BBC reveal – pundit
Man United could sign a £50million striker if they are able to get Cristiano Ronaldo off the wage bill, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed Ronaldo’s recent performances are “slowly ruining his legacy” at Old Trafford.
After coming off the bench on the 2-1 opening day defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion, the 37-year-old started the 4-0 humiliation to Brentford on Saturday (13 August).

BBC Sport reported on Tuesday (16 August) that Man United are now open to letting him leave this summer amid fears his presence is disrupting the rest of the squad.
“After those first few games, they are probably thinking ‘Why are we keeping him?’
“He’s not the player he used to be. Someone asked me ‘Is Ronaldo world-class?’ I said no. Has he been world-class for most of his career? Yes, he has, but world-class players would have got the ball and made something happen against Brentford.
“He hasn’t got that anymore, he hasn’t got that yard of pace and has to rely on really good service to score goals.
“For me, they should get rid of him. If they got him off the wage bill, the amount of money they’d save on wages means they could go out and buy a £50million player.
“I’d let him go and look to bring in youngster strikers.
“Only certain players over 33, 34 can still get around the pitch in the Premier League.
“Ronaldo has been outstanding but you are starting to see at 37 now, he can’t get around the pitch. It’s a young man’s game, the Premier League.

“He’s slowly, slowly ruining his legacy at Man United.
“It’s a bit desperate.”
