Man United tipped to swap Harry Maguire for Tottenham star after what pundit has spotted
Frank McAvennie has urged Man United to swap Harry Maguire plus cash for Tottenham star Harry Kane.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker insisted Maguire will leave Old Trafford at the end of the season and suggested Spurs are the perfect fit.
Kane has entered the final 18 months of his contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and is yet to sign an extension.
According to football.london (23 January), the England captain is open to discussing a new contract if the club were to begin talks and is keen to stay and win trophies with Spurs.
Earlier this month (9 January), Football Insider revealed that Maguire is staying at Man United until the end of the season after they rejected an offer from Aston Villa.
The 29-year-old’s contract expires in 2025 but could look for an exit in the summer as he has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford.
McAvennie suggested a swap deal may be the best for all involved.
“Do a swap deal with Harry Maguire, that would be a perfect situation,” he told Football Insider.
“Harry Maguire at Tottenham, he would do well there. That might happen because Maguire will be leaving at the end of the season.
“He will want to go to a decent club and Tottenham are a decent club so I think he would do well there. He is a proper centre-half.
“You look at him for England and he is not the same player as what is at Man United. It is as if the jersey at Man United is too heavy for him. I do not get that.
“Sometimes you need to be loved and the manager at Man United does not want him. Give them £40million plus Maguire, that would be a good deal.“
