‘Man United to pay Rashford, Garnacho to play for rivals after power undermined’

Manchester United could be forced into a situation where they are paying for the likes of Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho to play against them next season.

Ruben Amorim is in the middle of a complete squad rebuild, after a disastrous first seven months in charge at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils recorded a lowly 15th-place finish in the league, while they missed out on Champions League football by being beaten by Tottenham in the Europa League final.

United find themselves in a position where they need to get a number of highly-paid players off their books, but are struggling to find clubs that are willing to pay their wages.

Man United have no power as Antony and Sancho also to leave

Matheus Cunha has already completed his move to Old Trafford this summer, with Bryan Mbeumo expected to follow in the coming weeks.

However, earlier this month (13 June) Football Insider was exclusively told by former Everton CEO Keith Wyness that Man United would suffer from their early window spending further down the line.

That prediction seems to be correct, as according to a report from The Telegraph, intermediaries believe that the Red Devils have lost all bargaining power in negotiations.

United have been undermined by the fact that everyone knows they need to sell this summer, and therefore could be forced to subsidise wages to get unwanted players off the books, even if they move to a Premier League rival.

Antony is another the club may have to pay towards leaving, as is Jadon Sancho after talks with Chelsea broke down over that issue for making his loan permanent.

Man United need summer clear-out

Football Insider Verdict

There are four players that the Red Devils are desperate to get rid of this summer, with each one being on a very high wage.

Along with Rashford and Garnacho, United also need to sell Antony and Sancho.

Rashford has been heavily linked to Barcelona, and after spending the second half of last season out on loan at Aston Villa, he seemingly has no future at Old Trafford.

Garnacho was pictured wearing the winger’s Villa shirt last week in a move which angered fans, and the Argentine could be set to move to rivals Chelsea.

Antony is expected to join Real Betis on a permanent basis, after a successful loan spell in Spain, with Sancho not attracting much attention, despite slight interest from Borussia Dortmund.

The Englishman spent last season on loan at Chelsea, but the Blues decided to pay a £5million fee to send him back to Old Trafford, rather than sign him permanently.
