Man United told ‘£50m’ Joao Gomes offer will be accepted

Manchester United would have to pay £50million to secure Joao Gomes from Wolves in the January transfer window, sources have told Football Insider.

Ruben Amorim’s side are desperate to bring in a new central midfielder after missing out on several top targets during the summer.

It has now emerged that Man United are interested in Gomes and could be set to launch a pursuit of the Brazilian when the window reopens.

However, sources say that Wolves would be reluctant to sell one of their top players, so it would cost the Red Devils around £50m to get a deal over the line.

Man United could opt for Joao Gomes over more expensive options

On Tuesday (25 November), Football Insider revealed that Man United view Gomes as a cheaper alternative to the likes of Adam Wharton and Carlos Baleba.

The Red Devils have been consistently linked with Wharton and Baleba over recent months, but would have to pay over £100m to secure either, making a January move very unlikely.

Despite being significantly cheaper than other midfield targets, Gomes will still be an incredibly difficult signing for Man United to pull off when the window reopens.

Wolves currently sit rock bottom of the Premier League, and are already nine points adrift of safety with just 12 games played.

The Old Gold will be looking to improve their squad in the January transfer window rather than weaken it, and will do everything in their power to hold onto Gomes.

Man United make decision on selling midfield star

Despite looking to sign a new midfielder, Man United reportedly have no plans to sell Bruno Fernandes as things stand.

That is according to former Man United chief scout Mick Brown, who claims that Fernandes remains an important part of Amorim‘s plans.

While United will be prepared to assess any “huge” offers that arrive for their captain, they currently have no plans to let him leave.

Fernandes already has five goal contributions for the Red Devils in the Premier League this season, despite playing a deeper role.

The Portuguese international has been utilised alongside Casemiro in a midfield two, but has still popped up with key goals and assists.
