Man United told to forget Erik ten Hag and appoint 51-year-old not on shortlist – pundit
Man United should forget Erik ten Hag and Mauricio Pochettino and instead appoint Atletico Madrid’s Diego Simeone as their new manager.
That is the view of ex-Premier League goalkeeper Paul Robinson, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Red Devils’ search for a new permanent boss.
As per Sky Sports (24 March), United have interviewed Ajax head coach Ten Hag with a view to him replacing interim boss Ralf Rangnick this summer.

PSG’s Mauricio Pochettino, Sevilla’s Julen Lopetegui and Spain’s Luis Enrique are also said to feature on the shortlist.
Robinson is baffled as to why there is no interest in Diego Simeone, 51, who won La Liga with Atletico Madrid last season.
“Why are they not looking at Simeone? I just don’t get it.” he told Football Insider.
“His time at Atletico could be coming to an end. I just feel like he has been there for a long time. Everything has its timespan.
“Simeone is a manager proven at the top level. His teams are all defensively solid with attacking, flair players in the forward areas. I cannot understand why his name has not been mentioned.

“If I was a United fan and Diego Simeone was coming in I would be very excited. He knows how to win football matches at the top level. He knows how to win trophies.
“The other thing is, he is the type of manager who will not suffer fools gladly. They need that at United. Simeone would put that all to bed.”
