Man United told to land ‘world-class’ star as takeover ‘chaos’ exposed – Agbonlahor

Gabby Agbonlahor has suggested The Glazers are unlikely to follow through with the sale of Man United – but claimed they could win the title again soon under the existing ownership.

The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the Red Devils are only a “world-class number nine away” from winning the Premier League for the first time since 2013.

Speaking to this site on Wednesday (29 March), finance expert Kieran Maguire accused the “hustling” Glazer Family of causing “chaos” by extending the bidding deadline for the club to drive up the price.

Potential bidders were given until 9pm on 22 March to submit their final bids for Man United, but an extension was granted for potential owners like Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Qatar’s Sheikh Jassim to fine-tune their offers.

The Glazers are believed to be holding out for a bid of around £6billion to sanction a sale of the club.

Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (28 March) that Tottenham’s Harry Kane, Napoli striker Victor Osimhen and Benfica forward Goncalo Ramos are on the shortlist for Man United this summer.

Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “I think they can challenge for the title even if the Glazers don’t sell.

“They’ve spent the money in the past, but they’ve spent it badly.

“They’re not far off the title as it is. I think they’re a world-class number nine away from winning the title.

Man United

“I don’t think the Glazers are going to sell the club. They’ll keep driving the price up.

“But I think they can still turn it around. Man United will have a lot of money to spend if they do get new owners, but I don’t think they’re far off the top as it is.”
