Man United transfer news: ‘100%’ Luke Shaw claim issued after talks update – pundit
Luke Shaw will be trusted no matter who comes in as the next Man United manager, according to Kevin Campbell.
The former Arsenal striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, backed the 26-year-old to sign new terms at Old Trafford.
According to ESPN (28 March), Man United are set to open talks with Shaw and Marcus Rashford about a new contract.
The duo are currently contracted until June 2023.
The Red Devils have the option to extend the pair’s stay a further year.
Bruno Fernandes became the latest player to pledge his future to Man United on Friday (1 April) after signing a bumper five-year deal.
When asked if a new deal for Shaw would be shrewd business, he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury: “Yeah, I think so.
“He’s an established England international and I think whoever comes in as manager will like what they see in Luke Shaw.
“They paid very good money for him and he went through a very difficult spell under Jose Mourinho.
“He had to rebuild himself and come back, but he’s done ever so well to fight and get back into that England set-up.
“I think he’s the type of player Man United need in that backline, 100%. He’s strong, he’s solid – and he’s English.”
Ralf Rangnick is set to vacate his post as interim manager of Man United at the end of this season.

A successor is yet to be announced.
Shaw cost the Red Devils a reported £27million in 2014, and has gone on to make 212 appearances for the club.
