Man United transfer news: ‘Six’ stars ‘not fighting for the shirt’ to be sold – expert
No one is “fighting for the shirt” at Man United with a mass summer exodus the only solution, according to Noel Whelan.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the Red Devils are “not committed” and “not playing as one” at present.
Man United slumped to an embarrassing 4-1 defeat in Sunday’s (6 March) local derby against rivals Man City at the Etihad Stadium – with the performance panned by fans and ex-pros alike.

As quoted by Sky Sports post-match, former captain and TV pundit Roy Keane ripped into the Old Trafford stars, claiming “five or six should never play for the club again”.
The midfield icon added that Man United are “so far behind the other teams”.
Whelan claimed that the Red Devils exhibit none of the “telepathy” shown by rivals Man City or Liverpool.
“On paper, this side looks great,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.
“But this Man United side aren’t playing like a team. That has been the case for more than two seasons now.
“They keep adding these top internationals, Raphael Varane and Cristiano Ronaldo this summer, but they are not playing as one.
“It’s all individuals. There’s none of the telepathy you get with Man City or Liverpool, the way they work hard and put in that extra bit of energy on the defensive side.

“They’re not committed, and Roy Keane is absolutely right. I think you’ve got to go right back to the barebones – and it could be a lot more than six players out the door.
“It doesn’t seem like me that anyone is fighting for that shirt, and that’s a massive problem. I’d really hate to be in the trenches with any of them.”
