Man United warned over ‘mistake’ after Sky’s Erik ten Hag update – pundit
The appointment of Erik ten Hag could lead to a repeat of David Moyes’ tenure at Man United.
That’s according to former West Ham hitman Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the club’s continued manager hunt.
On Thursday (24 March) Sky Sports reported Man United held “positive” talks with Ten Hag on Monday.

PSG’s Mauricio Pochettino, Sevilla’s Julen Lopetegui and Spain’s Luis Enrique are also said to feature on the club’s shortlist.
Man United are also said to face competition from two major European clubs for the services of the Ajax manager.
“I’ll admit, I don’t know much about him,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“I’m not sure you can compare managing Ajax to managing Manchester United in the Premier League.
“That is a big ask. It’s not just the fact it’s a bigger club, the pressure is huge for whoever goes in there.
“Ajax is this guy’s first big job. Look at Moyes, he did so well at Everton but couldn’t handle the pressure at Man United.
“He just didn’t do it and it turned out to be a mistake, that could happen again here. It’s huge, it’s a massive club and you have to be to that.
“You have to win every game and you have to do it a certain way. It’s a huge ask for a manager who has never managed over here before.
“It’s like going from managing in the Championship to the Premier League.”

Ten Hag’s Ajax deal runs until the summer of 2023.
He has been in charge of de Godenzonen since December 2017 and has won two league titles with the club.
