Man United will sack Erik ten Hag and appoint new manager – expert
Man United will sack under pressure boss Erik ten Hag at the end of the season, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Tottenham and England goalkeeper Paul Robinson claimed that the boss does not have a long-term future at Old Trafford and chiefs will look to bring in a replacement despite Sunday’s sensational FA Cup quarter-final win over Liverpool.
Ten Hag, 54, has been under major pressure at the club amid a lacklustre second season in the dugout.
The Red Devils’ inconsistency this season has been far from the expectations of fans and the hierarchy at the club, spearheaded by new shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
Erik ten Hag will be sacked by Man United
“From what I hear, Ten Hag will be sacked by Man United,” Robinson told Football Insider. “He has bought himself time by eking out wins since the turn of the year, but you can’t see United being in the Champions League next season and that is unacceptable for a United manager.
“There is still no defined style of play, the only style is to stay in matches and be hard to beat. After two seasons in charge, that is not enough.
“The new regime hasn’t made hasty decisions, and look like they will give Ten Hag until the end of the season, but he won’t be there next season”.
Sources told Football Insider last month (14 February) that Ratcliffe and his INEOS company have given ten Hag until the end of the season to make a case for staying.
However, Robinson, who is well connected to the goings on at the club, insists this season will be the Dutchman’s last in Manchester.
Man United look unlikely to secure Champions League qualification while high-profile defeats, including recent league losses to Fulham and Man City, have put the manager’s position into question.
Their dismal Champions League group-stage campaign, where they finished rock-bottom of Group A, has also been seen as a major issue by chiefs.
Well-placed sources have also told Football Insider (13 March) that Incoming Ajax CEO Alex Kroes is keen on re-appointing ten Hag as boss of the Dutch giants.
United have already identified potential replacements for ten Hag, with Football Insider revealing (29 February) that Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi is Ratcliffe’s “stand-out” candidate.

Man United sit sixth in the Premier League table after their 2-0 win against Everton last week (9 March).
They are now in the semi-finals of the FA Cup, where they will play Coventry City, after defeating Liverpool on Sunday afternoon (17 March).
