Man United’s Amad reacts to controversial Mo Diomande post as Rangers beat Celtic

Mohamed Diomande sent a message to Rangers supporters after an incredible Old Firm victory against Celtic on Sunday.

The midfielder was incredibly influential, doubling the Gers’ lead at Celtic Park after Nico Raskin opened the scoring inside five minutes with a deft header past Kasper Schmeichel.

Goals from Daizen Maeda and Reo Hatate helped Brendan Rodgers’ side to stage a comeback against their fiercest rivals, only for Rangers exit-linked Hamza Igamane to fire home the eventual winner.

Barry Ferguson is likely auditioning to stay as Rangers boss permanently, and having claimed an enormous win over the Hoops in the Scottish Premiership, he has done those chances zero harm.

Taking to Instagram [17 March], Diomande posted a photo of his controversial gun celebration in the mould of former Ibrox star Ryan Kent and wrote: “Massive win at the Old Firm! The team showed great fight and determination to get the job done”.

Joined by Tom Lawrence, John Souttar and Ianis Hagi, Man United’s injured star forward Amad also liked the post following the shock result at Celtic Park.

The 22-year-old spent the second half of the 2021/22 campaign on loan at Ibrox, and despite only making 13 appearances, he clearly stamped his mark on the club.

Football Insider Verdict

The 49ers Enterprises’ prospective Rangers takeover has meant the majority of supporters expecting some major changes this summer, all the way from the pitch to the boardroom.

Robin Propper, Tom Lawrence and Cyriel Dessers, even despite his recent heroics, are expected to depart Ibrox this summer and that might just be the start of the overhaul.

Barry Ferguson is fighting to remain at Ibrox long-term.

The likes of Steven Gerrard and Derek McInnes have been linked with what could be a vacant Ibrox job at the end of the season, though Ally McCoist told Football Insider that Rafa Benitez would be interested in Rangers.

Ferguson, however, is proving himself to be a capable manager at the top level despite his only previous experience coming with Alloa Athletic and Kelty Hearts, and fans would be not against that decision.
