Man United’s Marcus Rashford reacts to Morgan Rogers announcement at Aston Villa

Aston Villa caught the attention of Man United’s Marcus Rashford with a new announcement concerning Morgan Rogers.

After being excluded from Ruben Amorim‘s plans at Old Trafford, the 27-year-old winger came back to life under Unai Emery, notching four goals and five assists in 17 appearances.

There remains hope at Villa Park of a return for Rashford on a permanent deal this summer, with Barcelona seemingly targeting other wingers, but his eye-watering wages still look to be an issue.

Missing out on Champions League qualification has thrown a spanner in the works for the Villans’ transfer plans, with PSR concerns now emerging at Villa Park ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Mick Brown told Football Insider that Villa plan to turn down any offers for Rogers despite the ongoing issues, and now a new announcement about the 22-year-old has been made.

Morgan Rogers nominated for award at Aston Villa

Taking to Instagram (19 June), the official club account wrote: “Cold as ice. We are delighted to confirm that Morgan Rogers has been shortlisted in this year’s Top Six for PFA Young Player of the Year.”

The announcement gained likes from Man United star, Rashford, as well as Bournemouth’s Chris Mepham, who made a name for himself at Sunderland last season.

Unai Emery’s transfer plans to evolve after Champions League blow

Football Insider verdict

The Villans could have pushed on further next season with qualification to the Champions League, but after missing out on the final day of the season, plans must now change this summer.

Thomas Bramall’s awful mistake, which benefited Man United at Old Trafford, saw Villa miss out on a top-five spot only on goal difference, with Newcastle United pipping them to the post.

Youri Tielemans was quickly linked with a Villa exit soon after fears emerged of potential punishment, and multiple stars are now being linked with the same fate before the club face financial sanctions.

Aston Villa Premier League

Emi Martinez, Alex Moreno, Leon Bailey, and Ollie Watkins all face uncertain futures in the Midlands, but Villa will be hoping to keep the majority of the squad together this summer.

Emery proved exactly what his team are capable of in the Champions League last term, reaching the quarter-finals before being knocked out by PSG following a wild two-leg thriller.

Supporters will be hoping for a replication next season, and possibly even better, after falling down to the Europa League on the final day of the Premier League season.
