Man United’s response to ‘Alejandro Garnacho training ground news’ revealed

Man United are pleased Alejandro Garnacho remained at the club in January despite rumours he could be sold, according to their former chief scout.

Mick Brown, who spent over a decade at Old Trafford during the club’s most successful period and remains very well-connected there, exclusively told Football Insider that Ruben Amorim is also happy with the decision given the lack of depth in his squad.

Shortly after his appointment, Amorim had left both Garnacho and Marcus Rashford out of his first-team squad as he demanded to see more from both on the training ground.

Football Insider have since revealed that the 20-year-old has responded positively on the training ground and is working to win back the full trust of the manager.

Profit and sustainability restraints also led to suggestions that an academy product could be sold in an effort to raise pure profit.

Brown told Football Insider on 16 January that United could be forced to cash in on the winger as a result of their growing financial concerns.

However, having kept hold of the winger despite intense interest from both Napoli and Chelsea, the club are said to be happy with his role in Amorim’s side.

Man United stance on Alejandro Garnacho sale revealed

Man United have a proud and long-standing tradition of academy involvement in their first team, and Brown has insisted keeping hold of their best academy products is still in their plans.

Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment and also worked for the likes of Aston Villa, Tottenham and West Ham, insisted that United will be better-off for having kept hold of a talented young player.

I think it’s a good thing that they’ve kept hold of him,” he told Football Insider.

“The only reason they even considered letting him go was because of their financial situation.

“So I think they’re pleased to have him in the side, and Amorim will be happy with it too because his attacking options are limited.

“It’s a bit ridiculous when you see players like Kobbie Mainoo and Garnacho being talked about in connection to leaving the club.

“Garnacho has done really well since breaking into the side, and you always want to keep players who are performing well and playing a big role for the club.

“Plus, he’s an academy product, and keeping those players at the club is a tradition of Man United.

“Put it like this: would Arsenal want to sell Ethan Nwaneri? Would City have sold Phil Foden?

“So I think the only reason Garnacho would leave would be if they were in a really desperate financial position, because there are players you’d look to sell before him if you need to raise money.

“They’ll be happy to keep him and they’ll be better off for it, I’m sure.”

Man United dealt crushing £27million hit

Financial concerns have been a hot topic at Old Trafford since the beginning of the January window, with the need to sell players emerging as a result.

However, their performances so far this season have added to those concerns, with their current league position of 13th set to add a further financial blow.

Football Insider revealed on 6 February that United are set to be £27million down on their anticipated Premier League prize money after a miserable start to the season.

That could force the club into a more difficult profit and sustainability situation in the summer, furthering their need to cash in on some of their sellable assets.
