Tijjani Reijnders is steadily finding his feet as the Manchester City midfielder started for the Netherlands against Tunisia on Friday.

The former AC Milan star's delivery from a corner led to Jan Paul van Hecke scoring the Oranje's third in Kansas City Stadium on 26 June.

Ronald Koeman's team got off to a quick start against the North African nation and eventually sealed the three points with a 3-1 victory.

Reijnders has continued to play a big part for his national side at the 2026 World Cup, but received mixed reactions from Dutch media as the Netherlands beat Tunisia.

Despite the assist for Van Hecke's goal, the 27-year-old midfielder's form doesn't seem to have improved much from his debut season at the Etihad Stadium.

The Sky Blues' star could have a chance to contribute to the Oranje's success in the knockout stages as they face Morocco in the last 32.

Tijjani Reijnders may have found best position in the Netherlands win vs Tunisia

Man City spent £46.5million on Reijnders last summer and after a promising start to his career in M11, he lost his place in Pep Guardiola's plans midway through the season.

The ex-Milan star seems to be redefining his role with the Netherlands as an attacking-midfielder, with Sportnieuws.nl giving him a rating of 6.5/10 and writing, "He fits better in the number 10 position when [Brian] Brobbey plays as a striker. He gets the space to get into the penalty area, which is how he almost scored the 3-0."

Reijnders received 6/10 from VoetbalPrimeur, who feel there's still a long way to go for the Dutch ace, writing, "He's not in peak form (yet), but Reijnders is doing enough to retain his starting spot for the time being. The man with the eternal smile could have made things easier for himself if he had scored, but the crossbar literally stood in his way."

Voetbal International weren't too kind to Reijnders as they felt he was one of the worst players on the pitch for the Oranje, with a rating of 5.5/10, the same as Liverpool's Cody Gakpo.

Manchester City make Tijjani Reijnders transfer decision

Sources told Football Insider on 16 June that Man City had no immediate plans to sell Reijnders, with the incoming manager expected to hand him a new lease of life.

Enzo Maresca's appointment at the Etihad Stadium feels imminent and it will be interesting to see how the former Chelsea boss fits the Netherlands international into his plans.

With the Sky Blues looking keen to bolster their engine room this summer, only time will tell whether Reijnders can get back to his best in Manchester.
