Tottenham close in on two more marquee signings, expert reveals the likely fees

Premier League fans are choosing to believe "complicated conspiracy theories" over the idea of Tottenham Hotspur wanting Savinho.

That is according to former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider that the theory of Man City and Tottenham working together is complete nonsense.

Spurs are set to splash £75million, plus £10m in add-ons, on City's No.26, with a deal for Omar Marmoush next on the cards, though no fee has been agreed.

It is believed that, after Man City spent £59m on the player from Eintracht Frankfurt just 18 months ago, they may be about to break even.

That has sparked chaos across the Premier League, with rival fans suggesting a conspiracy theory to stop Man City paying a sell-on fee to Frankfurt.

As part of Marmoush's contract, a percentage of any profit made on Marmoush would go to the Bundesliga side. Fans now believe that Spurs have overpaid for Savinho to help the Citizens in the sale of Marmoush.

Eintracht Frankfurt can pick up the phone and demand £1m

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson has rubbished those claims, baffled at the idea that Man City want to avoid losing £1m to another club.

"I don't even think it'd be £2m because, as much as I think they might get slightly more than they're paid, they're not going to get £80m," he said.

"£80m would be £20m, and 15 per cent of that would be £3m. Well, they're not going to sell him for £80m. They might get £70m, I guess. That still feels quite toppy.

"I really don't think that City are getting Spurs involved in some kind of under-manipulation of the values just so that they can not pay Frankfurt a £1m.

"And in any event, everybody knows about it now. So if that has gone on, Frankfurt can very easily pick up the phone and go, 'Can we have £1m please? We know what you've done'.

"People need to just get their heads around Spurs do really rate Savinho and have been happy to pay. I just don't believe any of these complicated conspiracy theories."

What has Enzo Maresca said about Omar Marmoush leaving?

Marmoush leaving for Spurs is far less clear-cut than the sale of Savinho, given that the latter always made his intentions known.

Enzo Maresca revealed in his recent press conference that from "day one," the Brazilian wanted to seek opportunities elsewhere, and that's what is set to happen.

When asked about the rumours around Marmoush, the new Man City boss simply said that the situation was not the same, and that the player was still at the club.

All signs point towards a move to North London before the window shuts, but nothing can be certain until the Premier League deadline has passed.
