Manchester City midfielder Tijjani Reijnders could be leaving the club after only one season, according to what Keith Wyness has heard.

Wyness, speaking to Football Insider, states that Reijnders could move back to Serie A this summer after struggling to make an impact at the Etihad since his arrival from AC Milan.

Despite a bright start to his Man City career, including two goals on his Premier League debut against Wolves, Reijnders has been an unused substitute in four of the last seven matches.

The 27-year-old is not one of Pep Guardiola's first choice starters in midfield, and he could explore a move away to guarantee greater playing time elsewhere next season.

Man City could lose up to three midfielders this summer if Reijnders departs, with Bernardo Silva already announcing he will be leaving in the summer, and there is speculation over Rodri's future.

Expert reveals what he is 'hearing' about Tijjani Reijnders

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs - says that he would not be surprised to see Reijnders leave Man City.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness believes that the Dutchman is already in talks over moving back to Italy.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “What I'm hearing is that there may be a move back to Serie A for Reijnders.

"He just hasn't caught Pep's imagination the way he hoped he would do. Perhaps Pep sees him as a little bit slower than he wanted him to be in midfield. So, if Pep doesn't like you at Man City, then they'll find a way to go, even though he had a five-year contract.

"So I would not be surprised, and I am hearing rumours of discussions already with Serie A clubs. So it may well be the case that he does end up back in Italy.”

Man City braced for Omar Marmoush departure

Another Man City player who could leave the Etihad this summer is Omar Marmoush, as he too struggles for playing time under Guardiola.

As deputy to Erling Haaland, Marmoush has started just seven Premier League games this season, and could look for a move to become first choice striker elsewhere.

Sources have told Football Insider that Aston Villa are targeting Marmoush this summer, after they could not complete a loan deal in time in January.

Aston Villa are expected to be boosted by a return to the Champions League, which will help attract players like Marmoush to the club.
