Manchester United respond to Christian Eriksen’s emotional exit message

Manchester United have responded to an exit message shared by midfielder Christian Eriksen.

The former Tottenham man joined the Red Devils in the summer of 2022 after spending a brief spell with Brentford.

Eriksen has made over 100 appearances for Man United, helping the North West side win the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024.

He marked his last appearance for Ruben Amorim’s men in style, scoring from the penalty spot as the Old Trafford club beat Aston Villa 2-0 on Sunday, 25 May.

Eriksen made 35 appearances across all competitions for Man United this term, notching five goals and five assists.

The Denmark international took to Instagram [30 May] to bid farewell to the Old Trafford outfit as he wrote: “A huge thank you to all the fans who have supported me through the last three years as a Manchester United player.

“Thank you too all the kind and hardworking people at the club who have made me and my family feel so welcome since day one. And a big thank you to my teammates, it’s been a pleasure sharing the changing room and pitch together! It’s been an amazing time, and I’ve made some incredible memories that I will keep forever. Thank you, Christian.”

Man United showed their appreciation for Eriksen, as the North West club’s official Instagram account left a red heart emoji in the comments section.

Man United are prepared to accept offers for Kobbie Mainoo

While Amorim’s side are parting company with Eriksen, the Dane’s exit is set to play a potentially small role in a major summer rebuild at Old Trafford.

Eriksen is leaving Man United

The Red Devils have suffered a poor Premier League campaign, finishing just 15th in the top flight as well as being beaten by Tottenham in the Europa League final on 21 May.

Amorim is keen to bolster his ranks in all areas of the pitch, as Man United could swap Rasmus Hojlund for Victor Osimhen, who has performed well on a loan spell with Galatasaray from Serie A champions Napoli.

Meanwhile, Eriksen may not be the only midfielder departing Old Trafford this summer, as United are prepared to sell Kobbie Mainoo, according to their former chief scout Mick Brown.

Amid injury issues, the 20-year-old made just 25 Premier League appearances this season, while his last start of the campaign arrived on 11 May, when Man United were beaten 2-0 by West Ham on home soil.
