Manchester United fans react to Martial being benched v Leicester

By Dominic Toner

Anthony Martial was left on the bench against Leicester – and Manchester United fans were furious with the decision on Twitter.

The 21-year-old was an unused substitute in the goalless draw against Hull and has played a bit-part role for United this season.

The left winger has still managed six goals and supplied five assists in 22 appearances this campaign, but is not considered to be in Jose Mourinho’s strongest XI.

The Red Devils travel to the King Power Stadium to face the reigning Premier League champions and will be hoping to get their top four ambitions back on track.

United supporters expressed their anger that Martial was omitted from the starting XI again by Mourinho and feel he deserves to start.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Martial has endured a mixed time in a United shirt since his arrival in 2013 from Monaco for £36million, a fee that could rise to £58million.

The France international has scored 25 goals in 78 appearances for the English giants, but is finding it difficult to force his way into the side.

In other Manchester United news, an Everton player responded to transfer speculation of him moving to Old Trafford.
