Man United make 'clear' Michael Carrick decision after 'what I've been told'
Manchester United have no immediate plans to sack Michael Carrick despite ongoing concerns about their slow start to the season.
Following a late 1-1 draw against ten-man Tottenham last time out, this is now Man United's worst start to a Premier League season in their history, with just six points from six games.
That has led to growing question marks over the manager's position, with sections of the fanbase now starting to call for his head after what has been a "nightmare" run.
Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Carrick still has credit in the bank for his work last season and there are no plans to pull the trigger.
While the club's hierarchy accept that results must improve, there is still a belief that they have the right man in place despite some concerns starting to creep in.
Man United are keen to stick by Carrick as things stand and still feel he can turn around their fortunes, with no immediate plans to pull the trigger.
Could Michael Carrick be sacked by Man United?
Football Insider revealed on 27 September that Man United have no plans to sack Carrick in the near future, regardless of what has been a poor start to the season.
The latest frustrating result at home against a struggling Tottenham side has raised new concerns, particularly amongst the fans, but the club's stance has not changed.
Man United believe Carrick is the right man to lead them out of their poor form, while he has credit in the bank from last season and the board are keen to give him time.
"Michael Carrick still has plenty of credit in the bank for what he did last season," Brown told Football Insider.
"From what I'm told, there are no plans in place for him to be sacked as things stand, it's not something they are currently considering and not something I would expect to see.
"It's been a nightmare start to the season and results haven't been good enough, everybody knows that including Michael Carrick.
"He will know better than anyone that they have to start winning games soon, because otherwise those calls for his head will only get louder and it will become more of a problem.
"But at the moment, they have been pretty clear that they are keen to give him time to turn things around and still feel he is the right man for the job."
Who could replace Carrick at Man United?
Amid ongoing speculation about Carrick's long-term future at Man United, questions have already been asked about who his replacement could be if they pull the trigger.
A number of names have been mentioned including the likes of Eddie Howe, but there are doubts about the former Newcastle boss' willingness to step back in.
Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed on 8 October that Antonio Conte is on Man United's shortlist should they be forced into a change in manager in the near future.
Conte recently came out with a statement that made his intent clear to return to management with a club that has "lost sight of its history" as he aims to reverse their fortunes.
Many have suggested that could be a thinly-veiled declaration of his interest in the Man United job, and he is likely to be considered if a change is made.
