Man United's compensation revealed after Patrick Dorgu 'hammer blow'
Manchester United will receive a compensation fee from FIFA if Patrick Dorgu's latest injury is as serious as expected.
That is according to former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider that Man United could be facing a "hammer blow" this season.
The current international break has thrown up multiple key injuries, including Liverpool duo Cody Gakpo and Alexander Isak, Arsenal's Kai Havertz, and Sunderland star Brian Brobbey.
Dorgu could be the latest to join that list, appearing to suffer a brand-new hamstring injury during Denmark's 2-0 win over Wales on Sunday, 27 September.
The 21-year-old missed 12 matches for club and country in 2025-26, also thanks to a hamstring issue, and the same could be happening again.
For FIFA's scheme to come into effect, the player must miss at least 28 consecutive days, and Dorgu would meet that if his new injury is as bad as the last.
FIFA to 'underwrite' Patrick Dorgu's Man United wages
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson believes that United will receive a compensation fee of around £106,000-a-week, but that won't ease frustrations at Old Trafford.
"Under the FIFA scheme, I think it does apply to any international game, not just international tournaments," he said.
"That will underwrite his wages up to, I think it's $140,000-a-week [£106,000-a-week], and it might make the accountants feel a bit better.
"But all of these injuries on international duty are a hammer blow to these teams; it's just the last thing that anybody needs, almost at the start of season.
"I don't know what it is about international duty, but it does feel, whether it's in our heads, like this, maybe because of the change of circumstance or the change of training systems.
"But it does seem that players do seem to get injured on international duty more than they get injured generally."
What do we know about Dorgu's injury?
Understandably, supporters are worried about the left-back, with his injury occurring off the ball during the clash with Wales.
The player has since returned to Carrington for medical tests, but there has been no update on his fitness levels ahead of the resumption of the Premier League.
Bruno Fernandes also scared supporters, with the Portugal manager revealing that he's been playing through the pain, but that has already been squashed.
The captain missed Portugal's wn over Norway, but returned to face Denmark on Thursday, 1 October, grabbing two assists in 89 minutes.
