Marcus Rashford's Man United future decided after clear-the-air meeting - Insider
Marcus Rashford held clear-the-air talks with senior staff members at Man United to discuss his long-term future ahead of his return.
After Barcelona opted against triggering the option to buy after his strong loan move, the 28-year-old has returned to Old Trafford as part of Michael Carrick's first-team squad.
The winger came off the bench during the 2-0 defeat to Hull City on the opening day of the season, but speculation about a late transfer is ongoing behind the scenes.
Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Rashford has discussed his future with Carrick and higher-ups to resolve any lingering concerns.
The England international left Old Trafford to join Aston Villa on loan in 2025, before his spell at Barcelona, as he was no longer happy with his position at the club.
However, there is now a feeling that he will remain at Man United as a key part of Carrick's plans for the sesaon, having resolved any lingering concerns behind the scenes.
Will Marcus Rashford stay at Man United?
Football Insider revealed on 9 August that Rashford's future at Man United will be decided in the closing stages of the window with talk ongoing in the background.
After failing to complete his move to Barcelona, the wheels were set in motion for him to return to Man United, as Carrick plans to use him as a key asset going forward.
Clear-the-air talks have seemingly opened the door for a long-term future at Man United for Rashford, with his focus now set on performing at his best this season.
"The major thing with Rashford was about his issues with the club," Brown told Football Insider.
"It seemed like the problem was with the previous manager, and that Carrick could open the door for his return, but I'm led to believe his concerns went deeper than that.
"It was an issue within the club and the higher-ups, so I believe he has held talks with the relevant people to clear up what his long-term future will look like.
"After he returned for pre-season, played in that game against Milan, and now in the first game of the Premier League season, it seems like those issues have now been resolved.
"I'm told Carrick would certainly like to keep him, and that's the way things are heading now before the end of the window.
"Of course, things could still change on that front because the situation hasn't been clear at any stage, but if those issues have been resolved, there's no reason he wouldn't stay."
Which clubs are interested in signing Rashford?
Despite it looking increasingly likely that Rashford will be a Man United player for the season ahead, there is no shortage of interest from clubs across European football.
In the Premier League, the likes of Tottenham, Newcastle and Aston Villa have been linked, but a move to a rival English club seems unlikely as things stand.
Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed on 10 August that Fenerbahce are interested in signinig Rashford, although it may be difficult for them to persuade him of the move.
The Turkish giants have registered their interest in making an ambitious move to sign the England international before the end of the transfer window.
However, he is doubtful about making the move to Turkey despite the potential lucrative financial package on offer, and would prefer to stay at Old Trafford.
