Sources: Wolves open talks to sign Harry Amass after Man United green light

Wolves have joined Burnley in the chase for Man United defender Harry Amass as he prepares to leave the club on loan, sources have told Football Insider.

Amass, 19, is not in Michael Carrick's plans for this season and has been given the green light to leave United before Tuesday's 11pm transfer deadline.

Wolves have opened talks over a deal for Amass as they look to beat Burnley to the signature of the United rising star.

The highly-rated left-back recovered from a serious hamstring injury to feature heavily for the Red Devils in pre-season, but has failed to appear in their two Premier League matchday squads so far this term.

He spent last season out on loan at Sheffield Wednesday and Norwich City, but the hamstring problem saw his campaign end prematurely in January.

Burnley are keen on his services ahead of the deadline, and Wolves have now joined them in the race to land Amass in the next 24 hours.

United remain keen to add another left-back to Carrick's ranks before the deadline passes, but their pursuit of a new signing will not directly affect Amass leaving.

Sources exclusively told Football Insider earlier on Monday that Burnley are interested in signing Amass as it stands.

He endured contrasting fortunes at Wednesday and Norwich last season, after shining for the former in the first half of the campaign and registering a goal and an assist in 21 appearances.

Norwich won the hotly contested race for his services in January as they chased a play-off place, but he suffered the serious hamstring injury just days after making his debut for the club and was ruled out for the season.

The 19-year-old has returned to full fitness this summer and recently featured for 90 minutes as United's under-21s beat Ipswich 5-0 last week.

Marcus Rashford makes Man United exit decision

Carrick has utilised Rashford in his squad since he returned from a successful loan spell at Barcelona in June.

The England star started his first Premier League game since December 2024 as they beat Ipswich 5-2 on Sunday.

Sources have since exclusively revealed to Football Insider that Rashford has no plans to leave United before Tuesday's deadline.

He is content at Old Trafford and has no interest in a potential move to Chelsea after their interest in his services was reported last week.
