Man United’s Joshua Zirkzee reacts to Amad Diallo’s message amid transfer links
Manchester United striker Joshua Zirkzee has responded to team mate Amad Diallo’s latest social media post amid his uncertain future at the club.
Zirkzee joined United from Serie A side Bologna last summer in a £36.5million deal, but the striker has failed to impress during his time at Old Trafford.
The 24-year-old scored on his debut against Fulham in what was his first of only three Premier League goals last season.
Manager Ruben Amorim is keen to sign forward players in the window, with Matheus Cunha from Wolves already a welcome addition.

Diallo return liked by Zirkzee
Diallo took to Instagram (7 July) to post pictures of him returning to Carrington ahead of the start of United’s pre-season.
Zirkzee liked the post which was captioned: “Let’s go,” with a fingers crossed emoji.
The winger become a regular starter under Ruben Amorim as he was able to perform in a front three or at wing-back.
An ankle injury forced him to miss over two months of action between February and April this year, but he returned to start United’s last four matches of the campaign.
Zirkzee upgrade required as Amorim seeks Gyokeres alternative
Football Insider verdict
Following his lack of goals and impact in a United shirt, it is no surprise that Amorim wants to sign attacking reinforcements to bolster his attack.
Zirkzee has failed to adapt to the pace and physical side of the Premier League, alongside fellow striker Rasmus Hojlund, so Amorim is in need of forwards who can instantly make their mark.
Player | Zirkzee | Hojlund |
Appearances | 49 | 52 |
Goals | 7 | 10 |
Assists | 3 | 4 |
With Viktor Gyokeres set to join Arsenal and Brentford holding firm on their valuation for Bryan Mbeumo it remains to be seen where Amorim goes next.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin has emerged as a target following his departure from Everton, but his recent injury record should be cause for concern.
Diallo was one positive for Amorim last season, with his 11 goals and 10 assists in all competitions a fine return from the 22-year-old.
The Ivory Coast international looks to have nailed down a place in Amorim’s starting line-up, and with the likes of Marcus Rashford, Antony, Alejandro Garnacho and Jadon Sancho all set to leave the club, he will become an even more important player next season.
