Manor Solomon sends three-word message as Southampton complete signing

Southampton have completed the signing of Daniel Peretz on loan from Bayern Munich until the end of the season.

The Saints are in need of reinforcements, with their promotion ambitions taking a massive hit in recent weeks.

Currently, the South Coast club are on a run of six games without a win, and were smashed 4-0 by Middlesbrough last weekend.

As a result, Southampton are currently predicted to stay in the Championship, with the Saints eight points off the playoffs.

Now, in hopes of returning to winning ways, the Saints have brought in goalkeeper Peretz, with Manor Solomon reacting to the news.

Manor Solomon reacts as Southampton seal Daniel Peretz loan deal

With Southampton recently letting Zach Awe depart St Mary’s, they have now announced on 8 January the arrival of Peretz.

The Bayern Munich keeper spent the first half of the 2025-26 campaign on loan to Hamburg, but struggled for game time.

As a result, he will now be looking to compete with Gavin Bazunu for the number one spot.

Peretz is also a Israel international, and has 10 caps to date for his country.

Upon announcing the move on Southampton’s Instagram on 8 January, multiple players reacted to the news, including Tottenham star and current Fiorentina loanee Solomon.

The attacker commented: “Good luck mate,” with a winky face emoji and a blue love heart.

Southampton take first step to clogging leaky defence

So far this season, Southampton have seemed incapable of defending and keeping clean sheets in the second tier.

To date, the Saints have conceded 38 Championship goals, one of the highest in the division, which has no doubt contributed to their downfall.

With Tonda Eckert now in charge at St Mary’s, he will be hopeful that Peretz can help put an end to their woeful defensive record.

Speaking to Southampton on 8 January about the addition of the new goalkeeper, the manager was delighted that they were able to bring him in.

He said: “He comes from a very big club. He has got there and then had a number one that is very strong with Manuel Neuer, so obviously not that easy to pull him to the bench but a quality goalkeeper, very good profile, complete goalkeeper who can do all bits in all parts of the game and we are very excited to have him in the building.

“He looks ready. We have seen many of his games, even the games that he came in without a lot of rhythm and he looks very good, so we’re happy to have him.

“We have the idea to have him playing minutes with him coming in the January window. We have some very experienced senior goalkeepers in the building so he will add some quality.”

Peretz could now make his Southampton debut on the weekend as the Saints travel to Doncaster in the FA Cup third round.
