‘Manuel Akanji is on his way’ – Man City fans bid farewell after journalist’s update
Man City fans have reacted in unison and urged the club to sell defender Manuel Akanji after a fresh update on his future.
Man City kicked off their Premier League campaign in style with a 4-0 win over Wolves, but one notable absentee from the action was Akanji, who remained an unused substitute throughout the match.
Akanji had impressed earlier in the summer in the Club World Cup, despite City’s disappointing run, standing out with strong individual performances and showing his composure at the back.
However, Pep Guardiola now appears to be favouring the tried and tested partnership of Ruben Dias and John Stones. As a result, speculation over his future has grown, with Akanji linked with a potential move away from the Etihad during the transfer window.
The latest update has only added fuel to the discussion, with many City fans calling on the club to cash in on the 30-year-old while interest remains high.

Galatasaray make £15m offer for Manuel Akanji
According to Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna, Manchester City are holding out for around £18 million for Akanji, while Galatasaray have submitted a verbal offer worth £15m.
Aouna added that “discussions are scheduled” between the Turkish club and Akanji’s representatives in the coming days as they look to reach an agreement.
The Swiss international has been a dependable option for Guardiola when called upon, featuring 40 times across all competitions last season. However, an exit from the Etihad now looks to be a serious possibility.
Although Guardiola often placed faith in him last term, sections of the Man City fanbase voiced frustration over Akanji’s inconsistent form, and this season he has found himself pushed back down the pecking order.
Since joining from Borussia Dortmund in 2022, Akanji has largely operated as a rotational defender, but at 30 years old, a move to Turkey could offer him a fresh start and more consistent game time.

Man City fans want club to cash in on Manuel Akanji
Akanji’s name has likely been raised during recent discussions with Galatasaray, who are also interested in goalkeeper Ederson, in a potential double-deal.
City, meanwhile, appear open to further exits after a busy summer that has already seen Kevin De Bruyne, Jack Grealish and James McAtee depart. Balancing the books remains a priority, and Akanji could be one of the next to leave if negotiations progress.
The latest update has prompted responses from fans, with many urging the club to accept the reorted offer. One supporter wrote: “Sell him right now. Thanks for everything” while another added: “Yes, make it happen.”
