Marc Cucurella reacts after emotional Chelsea goodbye message

Marc Cucurella reacted on social media after the confirmation of a Chelsea exit ahead of the club’s final game of the season.

Having faced plenty of criticism since his big-money move from Brighton in the summer of 2023, the Spaniard has bounced back and established himself as one of the Premier League‘s best left-backs this season.

Not only has the 26-year-old’s defending been much improved, but Cucurella has built up a knack for scoring important goals, including his match-winner against Man United following a stunning piece of skill from Reece James.

Having struggled mightily, especially during the Christmas period, Chelsea looked set to miss out on Champions League football for a third successive season.

But Maresca’s side have found form just when it mattered most, and a win over Nottingham Forest on the final day of the season will be enough for the Blues to qualify for Europe’s most revered competition.

Bashir Humphreys confirms Chelsea exit

Ahead of the match against Forest, Bashir Humphreys, who has spent the season on loan at Burnley, confirmed he would be leaving the club this summer.

In a post on Instagram that featured a montage of his moments in a Blue shirt, the defender said: “Thank you, Chelsea. I’m so grateful to all the staff & players I’ve come across during my time at the club. I met some amazing people & made friends for life.

“From my academy trial against Manchester City to making my professional debut against the same club, it’s been a journey!! The lessons I’ve learnt have been so valuable and ones I’ll carry with me for life. To the fans, thank you for your endless support. Even during my loans you’ve supported my career.

“Wishing you all the best in the future. Chelsea will always be in my heart.”

Chelsea set for busy summer ahead of return to Champions League

Football Insider Verdict

Chelsea are no strangers to a busy transfer window, and this summer should be no different as they prepare for a return to Champions League football.

As mentioned above, the striker position has been a problem for large parts of the season, with Jackson finding the back of the net just once in 2025.

Consequently, Chelsea may move for Brighton’s Joao Pedro, given the striker has been involved in a bust-up with Jan Paul van Hecke and the Seagulls may be ready to move on from him this summer.

What’s more, in spite of having plenty of centre-backs in their squad, Maresca has struggled to find a reliable partner for Levi Colwill.

But with Kendry Paez and Estevao completing their long-awaited moves from South America, Chelsea will have plenty of cover in the wider areas of the pitch.
