Marcelo Bielsa: Pundit slams Leeds boss over ‘jokes’ with club in relegation ‘trouble’

Frank McAvennie has slammed Marcelo Bielsa’s management as Leeds continue to struggle in the Premier League.

The former West Ham hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claims fans are starting to lose their patience with the Argentine.

Leeds lost 3-0 to Everton on Saturday (12 February), barely laying a glove on the hosts.

Speaking post-match, as quoted by Leeds Live, Bielsa admitted his selection of Mateusz Klich was “an error on my part” as the Whites were forced to reshuffle at half-time

McAvennie insists these errors and Bielsa’s assistance on using a translator in his post-match interview’s is “not a good look”.

“So he’s been here for nearly four years now and he can’t speak English? I don’t think that’s a good look,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“It was funny when he first started out, people were making jokes about his translator.

“But Leeds are in trouble, I don’t know if the fans will appreciate that.

“They will be thinking ‘hold on a minute, we have a manager who can’t speak to the players on the training ground’.

“I’m convinced he knows more than he’s letting on. There is no way that’s how he communicates in training.

“If it is then, well, maybe that’s something they need to look at.

“I know Leeds have big players missing as well but surely having a manager that speaks English is far from ideal.

“You have him admitting to making mistakes as well, that’s never good.”

Leeds United

Leeds are next in action against Manchester United on Sunday (20 February).

As it stands, the Whites are 15th in the league and six points off the relegation places.
