Marcus Rashford: ‘I totally disagree with Gary Neville’ as Agbonlahor fumes at Man United rant
Man United players and staff should be allowed to do what they want during the international break, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker insisted players’ mental health would take a hit if they were forced to lock themselves away in the dark.
United legend Gary Neville took to Twitter yesterday (21 March) to blast players for their “tone deaf” tour of global sporting events.
Marcus Rashford was pictured in Dubai watching the boxing match between Regis Prograis and Tyrone McKenna in Dubai.
Ralf Rangick was spotted out in Barbados watching the final day of the England cricket team’s test match draw with the West Indies.
“I disagree with Gary Neville,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider‘s Connor Whitley.
“Football is an amazing job, but it’s still a job. If you’re a guy working a 9-5 and you’re having a bad day at work, do you go home and straight to bed or do you go out with your mates for a drink or go to the cinema?
“Footballers, just because they are not doing as well as they should be doing, what should they do? If they lock themselves in their house in the dark, is that good for their mental health?
“Doing something they enjoy will take their minds off it. I totally disagree with Gary Neville. Let the players get their minds off it and refresh their minds.

“These players coming out and talking would have been doing much worse things back in the day before social media and camera phones. That generation was known for going straight to the pub after games and even before games.
“It’s only because it is on social media now that it is an issue. I think the players should be allowed to do whatever they like, to be honest.”
