Marcus Rashford: Man United situation ‘unthinkable’ after dressing room reveal – pundit

Man United should not have appointed an interim manager after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, according to Paul Robinson.

The former Premier League goalkeeper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested Ralf Rangnick’s appointment has contributed to the “fractious atmosphere” at Old Trafford.

According to Bild’s Christian Falk (16 February), English players such as Marcus Rashford and Harry Maguire are “irritated” by Cristiano Ronaldo in the dressing room.

It is said that there could be a divide within the team with Ronaldo wanting to lead the dressing room with his own clique.

On Twitter (16 February), Rashford refuted the claims and called for journalist’s to stop “looking for divides”.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his thoughts on the state of affairs at United, Robinson said:

“This is not the Manchester United I’ve been accustomed to. There is a fractious atmosphere at that club.

“They made the mistake of appointing Ole as an interim and they’ve made the same mistake again. Rangnick has never been under this kind of pressure before. The level of expectation is weighing on him I fear.

“They are nowhere near where they used to be. They have not won the title in nine years. That’s unthinkable.

“They have no direction and no style of play. The points they have dropped are unacceptable. Their record at Old Trafford this season is nothing short of awful for a Man United team.”
